Our transcripts are exclusively crafted by human transcribers.
Meet the team!

Pam Wyatt, Owner/Transcriptionist & Proofreader
After eleven years working as a librarian at Southampton University, my partner and I decided to embark on a new adventure and start a smallholding in Portugal. It was at this point I started my new career in audio transcription and have never looked back. I have been transcribing now for over ten years, during some fantastic years in Portugal and subsequently to France to try our hand at keeping cows along with the rest of our menagerie.
I love that I am still working with academics and students, and also have had the opportunity to expand and work with a variety of businesses and medical professionals. In 2023, after having spent many years as part of an amazing small team of transcribers, I had the opportunity to start my own business and Scribes Alive was born!

I've been working as a freelance transcriptionist since 2019. I love the flexibility of my work because it allows me to work around being a single mother to three awesome children who I home educate. Mainly, I work in the evenings or the early mornings, so our day time is our own. We're often out exploring our beautiful area where we live in South Wales.
The most enjoyable thing about being a transcriptionist is that with audios coming from anywhere in the world there is always something new to learn about. I often find myself spending far too much time researching to get more understanding on some of the more fascinating topics.

Helen Vincent, Transcriptionist
I have been doing transcription for coming on 15 years now. I love it because it gives me the flexibility to set my own schedule, wherever I am in the world, and from the comfort of my own four walls. (Disappointingly, not the walls shown in the picture! But I think the heating bills might be a bit excessive!)

I think, mostly, for me, the big attraction is the range of topics you cover. There's always something to learn, there's always something new to discover. Always a new rabbit hole to disappear down as you're trying to find that correct spelling, or the right reference information.

It really is a job where you discover something new every day, and really feeds my curious soul.

After a 25-year career in the civil service in Whitehall, London, and Washington DC, USA, I moved from Kent to Milton Keynes. I worked as an Executive Assistant in various sectors, gaining valuable experience and insight. After eight years working at a university, I left to set up a virtual PA business and also helped run my husband’s IT business, which we later sold when he retired.
I really enjoy transcription work and have focussed on this as my main area of work for the past five years. Working as a transcriptionist gives me the flexibility I enjoy, as I can work whenever and wherever it suits me, while still meeting the client’s requirements. It is often challenging, requiring attention to detail and a high level of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
I am very pleased to be working with Pam and the Scribes Alive team. I find the projects fascinating and varied, and Pam is fantastic to work with. She combines her professionalism with a kind and supportive nature making her team feel valued. I feel grateful to have the opportunity to work with this evolving and dynamic team of professionals.

After working as an Executive Assistant within various sectors, I moved to Canada where I had my two children and then subsequently lived in the United States in New Hampshire and then California before returning to the UK. Since then I have been living in the east of England with my children and our spaniel.

I love the flexibility that working as a transcriptionist gives me and I always tell people it's like a free education. You get to learn about so many topics that you might not necessarily get to find out about otherwise. I think that having lived abroad has given me the advantage of a good ear for accents too. I've been lucky enough to join Pam's team and I'm looking forward to working on more projects with them.

After 30 years of working in data and administration, I left my UK job as a clinical data manager in 2023 and moved to central Portugal with my husband. We now run a small holiday cottage, and work on our land growing our own fruits and vegetables, to enjoy a more sustainable lifestyle with less stress and a better work-life balance.
Transcribing is a great fit for me, as it allows flexible working (sometimes including evenings or weekends) and there is the added bonus of no commuting! I can keep my skills up to date, learn new ones, and be part of a supportive remote team.

Sarah Richardson, Transcriptionist
I’m relatively new to audio transcription but love the flexibility it offers. I previously worked in Social Care in the UK for many years in various roles ranging from community care to administration. I moved to rural France 3 years ago and still work as a carer, as well as herding cats and trying to grow vegetables!
I find the transcription work interesting and varied and learn something new with each job. I joined Pam’s team as I wanted to work with others who have a similar work ethic to me.

I’ve been working in transcription for five years, mainly medical and market research. Love the job as it’s always so interesting, never know what you’re going to get, and I work with a great team that’s always there to provide support. I live in Wales my family.
At Scribes Alive we have the fantastic opportunity of working in a small team, collaborating and interacting with each other despite working many miles apart. It is amazing to be able to immerse ourselves in so many different worlds and subjects that we would otherwise know nothing about and to be part of a fantastic team even without being in a physical office.
